BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Madilyn Gillespie walkoff hit led Campbell to a 6-5 win over Gardner-Webb in extra innings Sunday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Campbell picked up its 30th win of the season, owning an overall record of 30-12 and a Big South best 11-3 mark in conference games. The Runnin' Bulldogs drop to 16-28 overall and 5-7 in conference.
The Camels scored first as Gillespie hit a RBI double off the wall in right center in the first inning.
Gardner-Webb answered and took the lead in the second as Bridgette Strobl and Alyssa Bonilla drove in runs before Savannah White crushed a three-run homer to retake the lead.
The Runnin' Bulldogs retook the lead in the seventh after a Campbell error led to two runs before Mariana Rodriguez knotted the game at 5-5 with her RBI single up the middle of the field.
Alyssa Henault started the ninth with a double down the left field line before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt from Makayla McClain. Gillespie connected on the first pitch, hitting the ball up the middle as Henault scored the winning run.
Gillespie finished 2-for-4 with two RBI while White finished 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Kayla Howald (9-4) picked up the win after tossing the final inning in relief, recording one strikeout. Isabella Smith started and tossed the first eight innings, striking out seven.
Alli Stidham (3-9) took the loss after pitching seven innings in relief after entering in the circle in the second inning.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday as it travels for a 7:00 pm game at North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
