CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina defeated Campbell 5-1 Wednesday night at Anderson Stadium.
Campbell drops to 30-13 overall while the Tar Heels improve to 20-25.
The Tar Heels scored three runs off of two home runs in the first inning while adding two more runs in the second. Bri Stubbs, who hit one of the home runs, finished 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The Camels scored in the second on a Delaney McDilda double after Allyiah Swiney tripled to right center.
Lilli Backes (11-12) picked up the win in the circle for North Carolina while Isabella Smith (20-8) took the loss for Campbell.
Kayla Howald entered the circle in the second and tossed the final five innings, allowing one earned run and struck out two.
Campbell returns to action this weekend, hosting Radford in its penultimate Big South regular season series. CU will honor former Camels for Alumni Day on Saturday and celebrate seniors Katelyn Chisholm, Noemi Cortez, Samantha Fontaine, Lindsey Hunt and Claudia Ware on Senior Day before Sunday's game.
