High Point edges Camels 15-14

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – High Point closed the game with a 3-0 run to edge Big South leading Campbell 15-14 Wednesday night at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Panthers improved to 7-9 overall and 6-2 in Big South play, ending Campbell's (11-5, 7-1 Big South) school record seven game winning streak, and handing the Camels their first conference loss of the season.

Campbell took a 12-11 lead into the fourth quarter and extended with Olivia Ohlmann's score off a Rasa Welsh feed, its third straight goal to go ahead 13-11 with 13:48 to play. After Kay Rosselli stopped the CU run with her second goal of the night, Welsh and Ohlmann connected again with 9:00 to play to restore the two score lead for the Camels.

With 6:53 remaining, Espirit Cha's goal again cut the Campbell lead to one before Mena Loescher's third strike tied it up at 14-all. Mandy Brockamp gave the Panthers the lead for good on the very next possession, notching the go-ahead goal with 2:47 on the clock.

HPU held Campbell off the board for the final 9:00 of game action, forcing seven of the Camels' 15 total turnovers in the fourth quarter to erase its two goal deficit.

Brockamp led HPU with five points on four goals and an assist, while Loescher tallied three goals with an assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Cha also recorded four points on three goals and an assist, while Taylor Suplee made 12 saves in goal, adding a ground ball and a caused turnover in the win.

Welsh posted seven points for the third time in four games for the Camels, registering four goals and three assists to go with three draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball.

Ally Heath, meanwhile, gathered four points on two goals and two assists, with Sam Bischoff totaling three goals for her eighth hat trick of the season, with a game-high nine draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Emma Strickland also made nine saves.
