2023 CAMMYS honors the best in Campbell Athletics

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Chastity Pickett, Zach Neto, the women's golf and men's tennis teams were the big winners Thursday night at the 2023 CAMMYS held at the Oscar Harris Student Union.
 
In addition, Liz Sparacino, Jaden Jenkins, and the women's soccer team also earned top honors on a night that annually showcases the best in Campbell University athletics over the last calendar year.
 
Pickett, the Most Valuable Athlete at the Big South Conference Indoor Championship, was named Outstanding Female Athlete, while Neto, the 2022 Big South Player of the Year, 1st-team All-American and 13th overall Major League Baseball draft pick, earned Outstanding Male Athlete honors.
 
Female Team of the Year recognition went to the 2022 women's golf program, which won its sixth-straight Big South tournament title and reached the NCAA regional for the 10th-consecutive season.  Male Team of the Year honors went to the 2022 tennis squad, which won the league regular season title with a perfect 7-0 conference record.
 
Jenkins, a senior on the track & field team, was named Mr. Campbell, while Miss Campbell honors went to Sparacino, a senior on the swimming team.  The Highest Team GPA Award went to Women's Soccer (3.66).
 
Established in 2011 under the guidance of former Athletics Director Bob Roller, the CAMMYS is led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which consists of student-athletes from CU's 21 NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics programs.
 
Campbell student-athletes, coaches, staff, and special guests gathered Thursday in the Oscar Harris Student Union ballroom for a banquet and multimedia awards show to celebrate the accomplishments of the last 12 months.  The event was hosted by Chris Hemeyer, Evan Budrovich, Zach Berly and Lendl Suggs.

Male Newcomer of the Year: Anthony Dell'Orso (Basketball)
Fan of the Year: Gabby Hernandez
Female Team Performance of the Year: Women's Soccer (clinched Big South regular season title with 8-0 win over Longwood)
Male Team Performance of the Year: Baseball (won four games in two days to win the 2022 Big South tournament)
Female Individual Performance of the Year: Chastity Pickett (Track & Field) Most Valuable Athlete at Big South Indoor Championship
Male Individual Performance of the Year: C.J McBride (Track & Field) Most Outstanding Performer and Most Valuable Athlete at Big South Indoor Championship
