Camels season ends in Columbia Regional final

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Campbell's season came to a close with a 16-7 loss to South Carolina in the Columbia Regional final Sunday evening. The Camels continued plenty of their own offense, but couldn't contain South Carolina's either, tying the most runs allowed on the season.

Campbell concludes the season with a 46-15 record, the second most wins in program history. The Fighting Camels were ranked for 14 consecutive weeks, climbing as high as No. 9 in the nation.

Sunday marked the third regional final appearance in the last four seasons for Campbell, also reaching finals in 2019 and 2021.

DH Logan Jordan got things going with a two-run blast into the left field bleachers in the first inning to give the Camels an early lead.

South Carolina would answer quickly with two runs of their own in the second inning.

The Gamecocks opened the floodgates with seven runs on eight hits in the top of the third inning. Included in those eight hits were three straight doubles and a two-run blast.

Jordan helped get a few of those back in the home half with his second bomb of the game, this one a three-run shot to left-center to mark his second multi-home run game of the season.

Despite South Carolina loading the bases with one out in the fourth, the Camels held them to one run thanks to two strikeouts from Cameron O'Brien

The Gamecocks added four more runs in the fifth inning to push the lead to nine, where it stayed most of the rest of the way, with each team trading single runs in three more frames.

Jordan paced the offense with three hits, five RBI, and two runs scored on the night. Campbell compiled 12 total hits, with Halstead and Belbin adding two each.

Campbell struggled to limit the damage on the other side of the ball, as South Carolina hit 11-25 (.440) with runners on base.

Grant Knipp, Jarrod Belbin, and Chance Daquila all earned spots on the weekend's all-tournament team.
