Camels take on Radford in home opener

The first home game of the season welcomes a familiar opponent

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Campbell women's soccer team makes its return to Buies Creek for the first home match of the regular season when they host Radford Wednesday night.  

The two former conference opponents are each looking to rebound after recording their first losses on Sunday.

Promo: The first 100 students in attendance will receive a voucher to redeem at the men's game on Thursday to receive a free Campbell soccer t-shirt. 

Series History: The Camels and the Highlanders have faced each other 24 times in the series history. Each team has come away with 11 victories, and two games have ended in ties. The Camels have scored 34 goals in the series while giving up 37. In last season's matchup, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw when Radford buried a penalty kick in the 81st minute to draw level. 

Scouting the Opponent: Radford sits at 1-1-0 on the season, recording a 4-0 victory over Emory & Henry and a 5-0 loss to #5 Virginia. Four different Highlanders scored against the Wasps, while Paige Olson recorded two assists. They hold a .469 shot-on-goal percentage in the two games to start the season. Last year, Radford ended the season with a record of 12-4-4, winning the Big South Championship after a 3-0 victory over Gardner-Webb. The Highlanders advanced to the NCAA Tournament, losing 4-0 to the No. 12 ranked Duke Blue Devils. 

Homefield Advantage: Campbell is 26-4-4 in home games dating back to the 2019 season, outscoring opponents 101-27 in that span. The Camels finished the 2022 season unbeaten at home with a 7-0-1 record. 

First Year in CAA: Campbell begins its first season as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association after spending the previous 12 seasons as a member of the Big South. In that time, the Camels amassed 73 conference wins and won the conference tournament in 2020-21.
