BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Fighting Camels return to Eakes Athletics Complex to take on the visiting Davidson Wildcats Sunday afternoon in their final non-conference match of the season.
Campbell (1-2-1) is coming off a week of rest after falling to ECU last Sunday. Davidson (2-3) are looking to rebound after a 2-0 defeat to Charleston Southern Thursday night.

Last Time Out: The Fighting Camels were unable to get the ball in the back of the net, falling to the East Carolina Pirates on Sunday, 1-0. The Pirates scored their goal in the fifth minute, when Lucy Fazackerley headed home a cross from Catherine Holbrook. Alyssa Tucker had the best chance in the game for the Camels, firing a shot on goal in the 81st minute that ECU goalkeeper Maeve English barely pushed over the crossbar.
Series History: The Camels and Wildcats have gone against each other six times in the series' history. The Fighting Camels have a record of 2-3-1 and a -1-goal differential (5-6). The last time the two teams faced off was 2016, and the Camels came away with a 1-0 overtime victory on the road in the first game of the season. This is the fourth time the Wildcats have made the trip up to Buies Creek.
Scouting The Opponent: The Davidson Wildcats hold a 2-3 record after their most recent result, a 2-0 loss to Charleston Southern. Their two victories over Gardner-Webb and Wofford each had a 2-0 scoreline. They have a 0.341 shot-on-goal percentage, with a total of 44 shots through five games. Aleia Gisolfi-McCready, a 5-10 junior forward, leads the team with two goals and five shots on goal. She also led the team in 2022 with nine points and four goals. The Wildcats are led by first-year head coach Riley Piechnick. Previously, she served as the associate head coach at Bucknell University, helping lead the Bison to back-to-back Patriot League championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
Freshman of the Week: Freshman forward Alyssa Tucker was named the CAA Freshman of the Week on August 28, the first weekly award for a Camel in the CAA era. Tucker notched her second goal of the season against Radford, scoring off an assist from Amber Liston in the 23rd minute. She is the first Campbell women's soccer player to be named conference freshman of the week since Reagan Baiotto in September of 2021.
Homefield Advantage: Campbell is 27-5-4 in home games dating back to the 2019 season, outscoring opponents 103-29 in that span. The Camels finished the 2022 season unbeaten at home with a 7-0-1 record.
Preseason Award Winners: Laney Peabody was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team along with 11 other players. The reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Year, she joins Monmouth senior Lauren Bruno and Stony Brook graduate student Catharina von Drigalski as the three defenders on the preseason team.
Newcomers in the Creek: Campbell welcomes 10 newcomers to its roster in 2023. Joining the program are freshmen Natalie Darling, Megan Swift, Zahra Fepessi, Alyssa Tucker, Emely Rubio, Meghan Bernetti, Adele Schwab and transfers Kellsie Flint, Riley Terrill and JLo Varada.
