Box Score Greenville, N.C. – Campbell picked up its first win of the season in straight sets over Bethune-Cookman Saturday morning in Greenville. It was a loud win, with Campbell hitting .494 as a team, the second-highest hitting percentage in program history.
Campbell's top two attackers on the day,
Abbie Tuyo and
Gwen Wolkow, each notched 12 kills without a single error between them. As a team, Campbell put down 50 kills while committing only six errors.
Maddie Converse led that efficient attack, dishing out 46 assists on the day. That mark is good for the fourth-most by a Camel in a three-set match in program history.
Campbell got off to a hot start, hitting .394 in the first set to take it 25-16.
Abbie Tuyo paced the offense early with six kills and no errors in the opening frame.
The Camels kept things rolling with a 25-13 second set. The offense stayed hot by hitting .433 in the second with only two errors to 15 team kills. Campbell used an 8-0 run during the set to vault ahead and never looked back.
Campbell only got stronger as the match went on, taking the third set 25-11. This time the Camels hit .692 with 19 kills and just one error in the final frame.
Gwen Wolkow did the bulk of her damage in the third with six kills on just eight swings.
Campbell now returns home for the home-opener against NC Central Tuesday night at 6 p.m. inside Gore Arena.
