BUIES CREEK – Campbell completed the weekend sweep of William & Mary with a five-set win Sunday afternoon. The sweep is Campbell's first unbeaten weekend of the season and moves the Camels to 6-8, 3-1 in the CAA.
Chloe Cook led the charge with a career-high 22 kills on .308 hitting. Twenty-two kills are the most for the senior since her only other 20-kill match against NC A&T back in 2021. Fellow outside hitter
Gwen Wolkow did her best to not be outdone, adding a career-high 18 on .361 hitting.
Campbell took the first set 25-21 behind some stout defense at the net, logging three blocks early, with
Melody Paige having a hand in all three. Paige also added four kills without an error in the first.
The CU offense struggled to get moving in the second as the Camels dropped the set 25-20, though Campbell did add three more blocks up front.
Cook took over the match in the third set with 10 kills and no errors in the third. She also added five digs to her line in the set. The Camels needed each and every one of those points, squeezing out a 28-26 win in the third.
The Tribe forced a fifth set by hitting .414 as a team in the fourth.
Gwen Wolkow had her best set of the day in the fourth with seven kills in the stanza.
Campbell rolled in the fifth, hitting .533 behind three kills each from Cook and Wolkow to secure the win 15-9.
Claranne Fechter led the match with 18 digs, while
McKenna Sciacca had 24 assists and
Maddie Converse had 22.
The Fighting Camels go on the road next weekend to UNCW. First serve on Saturday is at 4 p.m., with a 2 p.m. start scheduled for Sunday.
