BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell University head women's basketball coach Ronny Fisher has announced the promotions of Megan Hall to Associate Head Coach and Lindsay Bowen to Assistant Head Coach.
Both Hall and Bowen have served as assistant coaches under Fisher since his arrival to Campbell ahead of the 2016-17 season. The pair has led the Camels into becoming one of the best defensive teams in the country, consistently ranking at the top in several national defensive statistical categories each season.
Additionally, the pair have helped Campbell to Big South regular season conference championships in 2019-20 and 2021-22. Campbell earned its first-ever berth to the WNIT in 2022 and reached the Big South championship game three times since 2019.
The longest tenured member of the Camels' coaching staff, Hall spent 11 seasons as an assistant under legendary coach Wanda Watkins prior to joining Fisher's staff. Hall serves as recruiting coordinator, works on the development of the program's post players and is involved in all aspects of the program.
"I am excited to announce promotions within our Campbell University Women's Basketball coaching staff," said Fisher. "Coach Megan Hall has dedicated herself to serving Campbell University and our women's basketball program for the past 18Â years. Megan is totally invested in the Campbell community and in the lives of our players. She has shown a work ethic, a sense of loyalty and attention to detail that are simply outstanding. Coach Hall will immediately assume the title and responsibilities of Associate Head Coach for our program."
Hall, who earned her Master's of Education from Campbell in 2007 and received her undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman in 2003, began her collegiate career at Walter State Community College in Morristown, where she led the squad to a Tennessee State Title and appearance in the 1999 NJCAA National Tournament. She served as a team captain at WSCC from 1999-2000, and played in the Tennessee Junior College All-Star Game. Following her two seasons at the community college ranks, Hall played a year at West Alabama (2000-01) and completed her playing career at Carson-Newman (2001-02), where she served as team captain.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve as the associate head coach at Campbell University," said Hall. "It's been an honor and privilege to be apart of this institution for 18 years where the welfare of our players and development of this program is our primary focus. I thank Coach Fisher, Coach Wanda Watkins, and Athletic Director Hannah Bazemore for their trust and belief in me as a person and coach. Campbell is made special by the wonderful people that comprise this university and I am overjoyed to serve in this capacity."
Bowen joined Campbell ahead of the 2016-17 season after previously serving as an assistant under Fisher at Presbyterian College for one season. Assisting with all aspects of the program, Bowen works with perimeter players.
"Coach Lindsay Bowen has been a loyal assistant on my staff for the past eight seasons," Fisher continued. "She has dedicated herself to the improvement of our players both on and off the court. Lindsay has a great mind for the game and she is gifted with a unique ability to connect at a high level with our players. She has also taken a leading role on our staff in finding ways to enhance the mental health and well-being of our players. Coach Bowen will immediately assume the title and responsibilities of Assistant Head Coach for our program."
Bowen served as an assistant at Florida International before joining Fisher's staff at Presbyterian. Described in the Lansing State Journal as "one of the best basketball players ever in the Lansing area," Bowen was a 2,500-point scorer at Dansville High School before matriculating to Michigan State in 2002. She kept the pace in a Spartans uniform, racking up 1,739 points, which ranks third all-time in the MSU record books. Bowen was a four-time all-Big Ten academic honoree, collected Big Ten freshman of the year honors in 2003 and earned All-American recognition as a senior. After graduating from Michigan State, Bowen played professionally in the WNBA with the New York Liberty in 2007-08 then in Europe from 2006-10.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to work for such an amazing program and institution," Bowen stated. "In my eight years, I've grown as a person and a coach and have made meaningful connections within the department. Campbell University is a special place! I want to thank Coach Fisher for molding me as a coach and for pushing me to be the best I can be everyday. He is a great leader and boss. I also want to thank Hannah Bazemore, Dr. Creed, and Coach Watkins for being so supportive of our entire staff and team. They are servant leaders and will do anything to help the success of our program. I couldn't ask for a better support system and I am truly honored, humbled, and excited for the future of our program."
"I am so happy for Coach Hall," Bowen continued. "There is no one more deserving than she is. She has earned this with her positive energy, loyalty, experience, selfless heart, and so much more. She has given her all to this program from the start. She makes us better in the office and on the court and brings so much value to our team. Her work ethic, commitment, and dedication to our girls and everyone she encounters shines through every day and she truly exemplifies our motto of Sweat & Serve. I'm honored to call her my friend and colleague."
Campbell stands at 7-4 overall after concluding its non-conference slate of the 2023-24 season. The Camels open CAA play at Stony Brook on Jan. 5 and Monmouth on Jan. 7.
