Camels split weekend at Elon

ELON, N.C. - Campbell settled for a weekend split at Elon after falling in three sets to the Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. 

The loss drops Campbell to 3-15, 1-7 on the season, while Elon improves to 11-8, 5-3.

Elon jumped out to an early advantage with a 25-17 first set. Campbell had no answer for Elon's Lindsey Harris early, who had four kills on four swings in the first. The Camels also surrendered three aces early, without one of their own in the first.

The Phoenix offense had things working in the second, hitting .424 to win the second set 25-20. Campbell cut down on the errors with just four in the second frame, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Elon. 

Campbell drew closer in the third set yet again before ultimately falling 25-21 in the final set. The Camels led by four at 19-15 before Elon closed the day on a 10-2 run to grab the third set and the straight set victory. 

Victoria Tupy led the Camels with seven kills on .375 hitting. Maddie Converse handed out 12 assists and served four aces. Riley Dean led the defense with 11 digs. 

Campbell returns to action next weekend at home against NC A&T. Saturday will be alumni day,  with Sunday as the annual Dig Pink match.
