Campbell baseball announces 2025 schedule

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell baseball program and Head Coach Chris Marx have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2025 baseball season. The Camels face off against 23 opponents, including seven participants in last year's NCAA Tournament, in the first year of the Marx Era.
 
"We are very excited about the strength of our 2025 schedule," Marx said. "There are quality opponents all over the schedule, and with a lot of new faces we are sure to be battle-tested moving into the conference season and postseason."

The Fighting Camels open their season with a cross-country trip to take on UC Santa Barbara in a three-game series on opening weekend. This is a return trip from last year, when the Camels took the series, 2-1, against the Gauchos.
 
The home opener follows, as the Camels welcome ECU to Jim Perry Stadium on Feb. 18.
 
The matchup against the Pirates begins a nine-game homestand at JPS. The Camels host Rider (Feb. 21-23), Duke (Feb. 25), Georgia Southern (Feb. 28 - Mar. 2) and Liberty (Mar. 4).
 
The day after taking on Liberty, CU is on the road to face off against NC State (Mar. 5).
 
After taking on the Wolfpack, the Camels have yet another homestand, this one consisting of 10 games. They'll host Texas State (Mar. 7-9), UConn (Mar. 14-16), and Coastal Carolina (Mar. 18) before beginning CAA play.
 
The conference slate begins with a visit from UNCW (Mar. 21-23). After a road midweek against Charlotte (Mar. 25), the Camels travel for a weekend series against College of Charleston (Mar. 28-30) before making the return trip to Conway, S.C., to take on Coastal Carolina (Apr. 1).
 
Following the Chanticleers, Campbell hosts Northeastern on Apr. 4-6. With this series against the Huskies, the Camels will take on the top three teams in last year's CAA standings in their first three conference series. Then, the team travels up to Durham to take on Duke (Apr. 9).
 
The April slate continues with a trip to Long Island to take on Stony Brook (Apr. 11-13) before welcoming their old Big South foe Gardner-Webb to Jim Perry Stadium (Apr. 15). That's followed by another road weekend series at William & Mary (Apr. 18-20) and a trip to UNC Greensboro (Apr. 22).
 
CU is back in Buies Creek April 25-27 to host CAA opponent Towson and the following midweek matchup against Charlotte (Apr. 29).
 
The Camels open the month of May on the road at North Carolina A&T (May 2-4) before facing off against The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill on May 6.
 
CAA play resumes with a visit by Elon, May 9-11. These will be the final home games of the 2025 season.
 
Road trips to ECU (May 13) and Delaware (May 15-17) close out the regular season for the Camels. The top six teams in the CAA rankings at the end of the year will participate in the CAA Baseball Championships, held May 21-24 on the campus of College of Charleston.
 
Schedule Notes
  • The longest road trip is to Santa Barbara, which is 4,610 miles round trip. The shortest is to NC State at just 60 miles round trip.
  • The Camels will travel to five states this season – California, Delaware, New York, South Carolina and Virginia.
  • Seven opponents participated in last year's NCAA Tournament. ECU, NC State, UCSB and UNC hosted Regionals. UNC, NC State and UConn advanced to the Super Regionals, with the Tar Heels making it to Omaha.
  • The Fighting Camels face off against 23 opponents this year, and Texas State, Uconn and Northeastern are brand new opponents for the record books.
  • The average win total for Campbell's opponents last year was 32. UNC, Charleston, UNCW, Duke, ECU and UCSB all had 40+ wins a season ago.
  • Campbell will face schools from nine different conferences – AAC, ACC, Big East, Big South, Big West, CAA, CUSA, MAAC and Sun Belt.
  • The CAA slate consists of nine weekend series, four at home and five on the road.
  • The CAA opponents Campbell will not face in the regular season are Hofstra and Monmouth.
  • Campbell faces the top three teams in last year's CAA standings in the first three conference series. Overall, they face the No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 12 teams in the 2024 CAA standings.
  • The Camels play at night at Jim Perry Stadium 12 times for Friday games and midweek matchups.
  • The longest stretch of home games is 10, while the longest stretch on the road for Campbell is five games.
