Camels fall at High Point 16-11

HIGH POINT, N.C. - High Point defeated Campbell 16-11 Saturday afternoon at Vert Stadium.

Campbell falls to 0-2 on the season while High Point picks up its first win to improve to 1-1.

Four Camels registered multi-goal games as McKenna Duncan, Ally Heath, Emily Wilson and Joslin Hanbury all scoring two goals. Duncan and WIlson also added assists for the Camels.

Rebekah Taylor led the Camels with four ground balls while Emma Strickland added two while making 10 saves in goal. Chandler Stewart added one ground ball and two caused turnovers while Hanbury provided two caused turnovers.

High Point led 5-2 after the first quarter and outscored the Camels 4-1 in the second to take a 9-3 lead at the half.

Heath and Wilson scored consecutive goals in a 17 second span to start the second half to trim the deficit to four. High Point responded with two goals and never let its lead fall to less than four goals the rest of the way.

Espirit Cha led all scorers with four goals while adding two assists, two ground balls, and four caused turnovers for High Point. Jordan Miles added three goals and collected five draw controls. Joy Coffey totaled four ground balls while both Aryss Lindsey and Tatum Mehring added three ground balls for the Panthers.

Campbell controlled the draw 18-12, went 13-of-16 on clears and 3-of-5 on free position goals.  High Point outshot the Camels 35-28, including 20-12 in the second half. The Camels were also credited with 19 turnovers, compared to just 15 for the Panthers.

CU returns to action next Friday in a 4:00 PM start at Radford.
