Camels fall to North Dakota State and Connecticut

RALEIGH, N.C. - Campbell played its two games on day two of the Marucci Classic, falling to North Dakota State 7-2, and Connecticut 8-4. 
 
Game One – Campbell falls to North Dakota State, 7-2

North Dakota State carried offensively throughout the entire game, earning their seventh and final run in the fifth inning after Reanna Rudd hit an RBI single. 

The Camels came alive in the seventh inning after Alyssa Henault singled to right field then advanced to third on the throw, bringing in Charlie Montgomery and Lindsay Lumsden. 

Kaitlyn Dunford (3-1) took the win for North Dakota, pitching four innings and allowing two hits, one earned run and one strikeout. 

Megan Gregory (0-3) was credited with the loss, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing three hits, one earned run and three strikeouts. 
 
Game Two – Camels fall to Connecticut, 8-4

The Camels bats were hot in the fourth inning with Tristin Doster bunting, and advancing Lumsden and Montgomery scored. Madilyn Gillespie hit a double then advanced to third on the throw, bringing in Lumsden and Doster. Allyiah Swiney then hit an RBI single, where she advanced to second on the throw and Gillespie scored. Those were the first four runs on the board during the game. 

Three Huskies, Jana Sanden, Hope Jenkins and Lexi Hastings, hit home runs in the sixth and seventh innings giving the Huskies five runs. In the seventh inning, Jenkins reached on an error and Giuliana Abruscato scored their eight and final run, unearned. 

Meghan O'Neil (1-2) was credited with the win, pitching three innings and allowing one hit, no runs and four strikeouts. 

Isabella Smith (1-3) was credited with the loss, pitching .1 innings and allowing two hits and three runs. Hannah Leierer (0-2) pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, four runs and two strikeouts. Kayla Howald (0-0) also pitched .2 innings and allowed two hits, one run and one strikeout.
