Camels complete comeback in 57-46 win over William & Mary

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Svenia Nurenberg tied her career-high with 17 points and Campbell erased a double-figure deficit in the second half to defeat William & Mary 57-46 Sunday afternoon at Gore Arena.

Campbell improves to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in conference play while the Tribe fall to 12-11 and 8-4 in CAA games.

The Camels jumped out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter, holding William & Mary scoreless over the final 5:57 of the period. Campbell went 0-for-10 from the field in the second quarter, scoring just three points off free throws and headed to halftime trailing 22-18.

William & Mary built its lead to as many as 10 after using a 9-0 run early in the third quarter. Campbell stormed back as Audrey Fuller and Nurenberg hit back-to-back threes as part of a 13-5 run in which the Tribe were limited to just one field goal over the final 6:51 of the period.

Campbell held the Tribe to 2-of-10 shooting from the field in the final period and went ahead by double-digits behind a 7-0 run midway through the fourth. Audrey Fuller hit a deep three from the right wing to put the Camels up by 12 marking the largest lead of the day.

Nurenberg shot 4-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-5 from three and a perfect 6-of-6 on free throws, to tie her career high and season high. She also added a team-high eight rebounds, one assists and one steal.

Ezumah added nine points while Fuller provided eight points and six rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.

William & Mary's Nylah Young led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting while Cassidy Geddes added 11 points.

CU shot 35.3 percent (18-of-51) from the field and 32.1 percent (9-of-28) from three for the game but made 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from the floor and went 7-of-15 from three in the second half. Campbell held a 39-28 advantage on the boards but were outscored in the paint 32-16.

The Tribe finished shooting 38.0 percent (19-of-50) from the floor and made just 1-of-12 shots from three.

Campbell returns to action next Sunday in a 2:00 PM tip-off against Hofstra.
