No. 17 NC State defeats Camels 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 17 NC State topped visiting Campbell 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

The Wolfpack moved to 5-3 on the season, while Campbell dropped to 5-4 overall.

After the teams split the first two doubles matchups, NCSU's Damien Salvestre and Joseph Wayand, and Campbell's Lukas Steffen and Tomas Balazi went to the tiebreak, with the Wolfpack taking the opening point with a 7-6 (7-4) decision.

No. 109 Braden Shick clinched the match for NC State with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lukas Steffen.

The Camels threatened at No. 1 and No. 2, however, with Damien Nezar, as well as Benjamin Maes, taking No. 61 Robin Catry and Fons Van Sambeek to third sets. Catry claimed the third set 10-4 over Nezar, while Van Sambeek outlasted Maes 18-16 to complete the shutout.

Next up, Campbell returns home, hosting former Big South Conference foe Gardner-Webb on Saturday, February 24.
