BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell beat Saint Joseph's 8-0 in five innings, and just barely falls to Incarnate Word 2-1 in eight innings on day two of the Camel Stampede.
Game One – Campbell tops Saint Joseph's, 8-0
The Camels started off strong in the first inning when
Tristin Doster bunted a one run RBI, which brought in
Alyssa Henault and
Charlie Montgomery on the throw.
Sterling Hairston then hit a sac fly that brought in Doster, and brought the Camels to 3-0 in the first.
In the fourth inning Henault hit a two run RBI up the middle that brought in
Kayla Thomas and
Allyiah Swiney. Montgomery then hit a single to center field and advanced to second on the throw, bringing in
Tyra Parker and Henault.
Lindsay Lumsden brought in the eighth and final run of the game when she bunted an RBI single to third, bringing Montgomery to home.
Taylor Trowbridge (0-1) was credited with the loss after pitching 3.0 innings and allowing five hits, and five earned runs.
Isabella Smith (3-3) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing one hit, no runs and five strikeouts.
Game Two – Camels fall to Incarnate Word, 2-1
The Camels scored the first run of the game in the first inning when
Brooke Carey hit a sac fly to right field and brought in Henault.
The game stayed 1-0 until the fourth inning when Jasmine Contreras hit a sac bunt for Incarnate Word and reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Dominique Guerra to score.
The game then went into eight innings after being tied 1-1 since the fourth inning. Ryleigh Mata brought in the final run of the game when she reached on a fielder's choice and Aaliyah Garcia scored.
Annie Gunther (2-0) was credited with the win after pitching 3.0 innings and allowing two hits, no runs and one strikeout.
Hannah Leierer (2-4) was credited with the loss after pitching 8.0 innings and allowing five hits, one earned run and four strikeouts.

The Camels will face Winthrop at 1:00 PM for the final game of the Camel Stampede. They will be back at home on Tuesday, Feb. 27 to play Michigan State at 4:00 PM.
