Camels come up short to Michigan State

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell fell to Michigan State 3-0 at its first midweek game of the season. 

In the first inning Britain Beshears hit a sac fly to left field to bring in Hannah Hawley. In the fourth inning, AJ Militello hit another sac fly to center that brought in Jenae Wash. Then, Mik Anthony hit a single up the middle, bringing in Collette Allen and giving Michigan State (7-9) their third and final run of the game. 

The Camels had four hits that were all singles by Lindsay Lumsden, Alyssa Henault, Delaney McDilda and Tyra Parker. 

Liv Grey (5-4) took the win for the Spartans after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing two hits, no runs and six strikeouts. Madison Taylor also came in for the Spartans and allowed two hits, no runs and no strikeouts. 

Hannah Leierer (1-5) was charged with the loss after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing three hits, three runs and three strikeouts. Isabella Smith also came in to pitch 3.0 innings and allowed zero hits, zero runs and three strikeouts.

The Camels will head to Chapel Hill, N.C. this weekend for the UNC Mizuno Invitational, where they will face Lafayette, Rutgers, North Carolina and Rider University.
