Camels top Towson 6-2

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell won 6-2 against Towson (9-14) in game one of their first CAA home series. 

In the top of the third Ally Hickman put the first run on the scoreboard after hitting a home run to center field. The Camels quickly answered in the bottom of the third when Savannah White got walked and Tyra Parker stole home. 

In the top of the fifth Cara Bohner hit a home run to right field, giving the Tigers their second 
run of the game. The Camels came back strong in the bottom of the fifth scoring two runs after a sac fly by White and then a double from Lindsay Lumsden. Delaney McDilda hit a triple in the sixth inning that brought in Alyssa Henault. Charlie Montogmery then singled to third base, bringing in McDilda. For the final run of the game, Makayla McClain hit a single to left field that brought in Montgomery. 

Maddie Gardner (2-7) was charged with the loss after pitching 1.1 innings and allowing four hits, three earned runs and no strikeouts. 

Isabella Smith (8-4) was credited with the win and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs and eight strikeouts. Hannah Leierer came in for the Camels in the seventh inning and allowed one hit and no earned runs. 

Coach Prater stated, "We are who we are again, scoring five runs in the fifth and the sixth inning to come back from a tight game… I was proud of them defensively, and especially Bell, bouncing back in the innings she gave up solo home runs. She was able to come back and have some competitive outings and get some people out."
