Camels top Elon 4-3 in nine innings

ELON, N.C. - Tristin Doster hit a game winning single that squeezed the Camels past Elon 4-3 in the ninth inning. 

The Camels came out hot in the first inning and got started early when Lindsay Lumsden stole second, and Tyra Parker advanced home on a throwing error. Alyssa Henault then hit a double to right field that brought in Lumsden. Elon (9-19) answered in the fourth inning and scored three runs, two of which were unearned. 

Savannah White hit a sac fly in the fifth inning to bring Doster home and tie the game. In the ninth inning Doster hit a game winning single that brought in Makayla McClain. 

Taylor Cherry (3-3) was charged with the loss after pitching 4.1 innings and allowing one hit, no earned runs and no strikeouts.  

Isabella Smith (9-5) was credited with the win after pitching all 9.0 innings and allowing nine hits, one earned run and eight strikeouts.

The Camels will play Elon again at Elon on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
