Camels top Elon 7-5 in game two, but fall short 3-2 in game three

ELON, N.C. - Campbell beat Elon 7-5 in game two of the weekend, but fell short 3-2 in the final game of the series. 
 
Game One

Tristin Doster put the Camels on the board in the first inning when she hit a three run home run to left center. Elon answered in the second inning when Greta Hessenthaler hit a RBI single. Carley Davis then tied the game in the third when she hit a two RBI single up the middle. The Phoenix took the lead in the third after Gabi Schaal grounded out, but Mauri Murray scored. 

In the fifth inning Doster tied the game when she hit a RBI double that brought in Tyra Parker. The Phoenix responded shortly after when Ella Roberson hit a home run. The Camels came out hot in the seventh inning Brooke Carey got walked with bases loaded, and then Lindsay Lumsden hit a two RBI single to bring in Alyssa Henault and Parker. 

Isley Duggins (1-4) was charged with the loss after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing six hits, seven earned runs and one strikeout. 

Isabella Smith (10-5) was credited with the win after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing nine hits, five earned runs and three strikeouts. Hannah Leirer was credited with the save after pitching 1.0 inning and allowing one hit and no runs. 
 
Game Two 

The Camels put their two runs on the board in the first inning after Henault scored when Parker stole second, and Allyiah Swiney hit an RBI single bringing in Parker. Elon answered in the fourth with a home run, and then tied the game after Reagan Hartley hit an RBI single. Megan Grant hit an RBI double in the sixth inning that brought Elon out on top, 3-2. 

McKenna McCard (4-4) was credited with the win after pitching 3.0 innings and allowing one hit and no runs. 

Hannah Leierer (1-6) was charged with the loss after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing seven hits, three earned runs and four strikeouts. Isabella Smith also came in and pitched 0.1 inning and allowed no hits and no runs. 
 
Up Next 
 

The Camels will head home to host a double-header against NC Central on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. They will also host Monmouth at home this weekend for another CAA series matchup.
