Campbell ties with Fordham 6-6 due to weather

BRONX, N.Y. - Campbell and Fordham tied 6-6 in the seventh inning due to weather. 

The Camels started out hot, scoring their first two runs in the second inning after Charlie Montgomery hit a double to left field that brought in Tyra Parker, and Makayla McClain hit a single that brought in Montgomery. Madilyn Gillespie then hit a two RBI single in the third inning that brought in Allyiah Swiney and Tristin Doster, and brought the Camels to four total runs. 

The Rams caught up in the fifth inning with Bailey Enoch hitting an RBI single that brought in Bella Ayala and gave the Rams their first run of the game. Sydney Wells hit a double to left field bringing in three runs and tying the game. Erin Hoppe scored on a wild pitch, and then a walk brought in Annie Sullivan, bringing the score to 6-4.

The Camels answered in the seventh when Parker hit a two RBI single, bringing in Swiney and Jamaria Charley. 

Holly Beeman (3-3) pitched 4.1 innings and allowed four hits, no earned runs and four strikeouts. Devon Miller (2-3) then came in and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and two strikeouts. 

Hannah Leierer (1-5) started in the circle for the Camels and pitched 4.2 innings, allowing five hits, six earned runs and four strikeouts. Megan Gregory (1-3) pitched 2.1 innings and allowed no hits and no runs. 

Up Next

The Camels will play their first conference games this weekend at Stony Brook. Friday will be a double header at 12 pm and 2pm, and Saturday's game will be at 1pm. All games will be streamed.
