Dell'Orso named second-team all-CAA

BUIES CREEK - Anthony Dell'Orso was named second-team all-CAA, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. The Australian is the youngest player on either the first or second team as the only sophomore represented, joining nine upperclassmen or graduate students.

Dell'Orso shined in CAA play turning in 12 20-point games and averaged 21.9 ppg in league play, the third-most in the CAA. In league games, the sophomore finished second in steals (1.7), third in scoring, fourth in FG% (51%), fifth in FT% (81%), and 12th in rebounding (6.9).

Dell'Orso led the Fighting Camels in scoring 23 times and in rebounding 17 times this season, leading both in 14 games. He turned in a team-high seven double-doubles, and three times scored 30+ points in a double-double effort.

His biggest scoring output of the season came with 35 at ECU on Nov. 11. He had 34 in a double OT win over UNCW on Feb. 26, and poured in 31 at Monmouth as well.

Dell'Orso surpassed the 1,000 career point mark on Feb. 29 at College of Charleston, making him just the third player in program history to do so in less than two seasons. The others, Chris Clemons and Jonathan Rodriguez, are Campbell's top-two all-time leading scorers.

His 601 total points this year are eighth-most in a single-season in program history, and could climb as high as fifth on that list with just 25 more points this postseason.

This marks the second postseason honor in as many years for the sophomore after being tabbed the Big South Rookie of the Year in 2023. It is the second straight season Campbell has put a player on the all-conference second-team as well, with Ricky Clemons garnering the award last season.

Dell'Orso will lead the Camels to Washington, D.C. this weekend for the CAA tournament. The postseason begins Saturday at 12 p.m. against Monmouth at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in D.C. Tickets are available now at GoCamels.com/Tickets

Hofstra's Tyler Thomas was named Player of the Year. Full CAA postseason awards can be found here.
