Wofford edges Campbell 16-15

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wofford edged Campbell 16-15 in a game that featured 14 lead changes and 13 ties Thursday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium.

Ally Heath led Campbell with a season-high five goals and dished out one assist. Lexi Goff, Shania Roehrich and Joslin Hanbury all netted three goals while Hanbury joined freshman Caroline Laur in dishing out three assists.

Wofford was led by five goals from Addison Witkowski while fellow Terriers Emma Stalteri and Carlie Cutinella notched hat tricks.

Campbell led 7-6 at halftime and tied it at 11-all after a goal from Heath as time expired in the third quarter. The Terriers led 14-12 early in the fourth quarter before goals from Hanbury and Heath knotted things up with 6:12 to go in the final period. Both teams traded goals before Cutinella put Wofford ahead on a woman-up goal with 1:20 to go.

McKenna Duncan had a great attempt on goal with 43 seconds left but had her shot stopped by Wofford keeper Ella Smithers. Campbell later forced a turnover in Wofford territory with less than 10 seconds to go but failed to get a shot off before the game clock expired.

The Terriers finished with a 20-14 edge on draws while the Camels finished with a narrow 34-32 advantage on shots.

Next up, Campbell hosts Manhattan at Barker-Lane Stadium in a 6:00 PM start on Monday, March 11.
