Camels fall at Monmouth 16-8

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth defeated Campbell 16-8 Sunday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

Campbell (3-12, 0-6 CAA) jumped out to a 3-1 lead to open the game behind two goals from Shea Saracino and another from Hailey Kohlmann. The Hawks (6-8, 2-5) responded by closing the first period with three straight goals and outscoring Campbell 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 8-4 advantage into halftime.

The Camels cut the deficit to three goals after Joslin Hanbury scored to close the third quarter and McKenna Duncan added another to open the fourth. Monmouth answered in a big way scoring six straight times to end the game.

Joslin Hanbury joined Saracino with two goals while Kohlmann added two assists with her lone goal. Monmouth was led by four goals and four assists from Danielle McNeely while Caroline Brennan added a hat trick.

Monmouth out-shot the Camels 33-25, including 26-19 in attempts on goal. Campbell won the draw 15-12.

Campbell returns home for its penultimate regular season game next Saturday at noon against Towson.
