Camels come up short to East Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell fell short to East Carolina (26-11) 3-1 during their midweek matchup. 

In the third inning Emma Jackson hit an RBI double to put the Pirates on the board. Jackson then hit a home run in the fifth inning to give the Pirates their second run of the game. In the bottom of the fifth inning Allyiah Swiney hit an RBI single that brought in Makayla McClain and gave the Camels their first and only run of the game. East Carolina scored their last run of the game with an RBI single. There were no errors for either team. 

Taylor Apple (9-2) was credited with the win after pitching 3.0 innings and allowing one hit and no earned runs. 

Hannah Leierer (1-6) was charged with the loss after pitching 3.2 innings and allowing six hits, one earned run and one strikeout. Isabella Smith also came in and pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts.  

"We didn't do our job, we didn't do what we had prepared to do… We'll learn from what we didn't do.", Coach Prater stated in the post game interview. When asked about Hampton she said, "I enjoy going on the road, going into someone's backyard and competing. We're going to another turf field, so being away will be like being at home. I'm excited for the competition."

The Camels will head to Hampton, Va. this weekend to play Hampton for a CAA series matchup. All games will be live streamed and live stats will be available.
