Series History: For the second match in a row, the Camels are facing a team for the 20th time. Campbell has controlled the Buccaneers for much of the series history, holding a 15-3-1 record since their first matchup in 1993. In the last matchup in 2022, Campbell came away with a 3-1 road victory. Including that match, the Camels are on a six-match winning streak against the Bucs.

Scouting the Opponent: Charleston Southern has a 1-2 record early in the season, with losses to Furman and Grand Canyon. On Sunday, the Bucs defeated West Georgia, 2-1, for their first win on the year. Goalkeeper Jenna Moran was selected by the Big South coaches as the preseason conference Goalkeeper of the Year prior to the season. As a unit, the Bucs were picked to finish fourth in the Big South. 10 starters from last season return for Charleston Southern, including Claire DeAngelis, Fiama Hidalgo and Kiah Cirino, who joined Moran as 2023 all-conference selections. Jose Gomez leads the Bucs in his fifth season as head coach. Last year, he led the team to the Big South Tournament for the first time since 2021 (9-5-4 record).

Series History: The Camels and Tigers have faced off just once previously, in 2022. Clemson, who was ranked No. 25 at the time, defeated the Camels, 5-1.

Scouting the Opponent: Ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll, Clemson owns a 2-1 record. After losing their season-opener to Auburn, the Tigers have back-to-back wins over High Point and West Virginia. The team looks to lean on their combined experience, with three graduate students and six seniors leading the way. Clemson was picked to finish fifth in the preseason ACC Coaches' Poll after finishing in third place last season. Eddie Radwanksi is in his 14th season leading the Tigers, and he led the team to its first-ever College Cup appearance last season. The Tigers finished third in the final rankings of the season, and four athletes were drafted in the 2023 NWSL Draft.

Last Time Out: Campbell and East Carolina played to a 0-0 draw on Sunday night in Greenville. Sierra Vance ended the night with five saves, a single game season high to this point for the Camels. Riley Terrill was responsible for Campbell's lone shot on goal on her free kick attempt in the 39th minute.

Conference Accolades: Goalkeeper Sierra Vance was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She totaled eight saves in the win over NC State and the draw against ECU. Vance is the first Campbell player to be named conference defensive player of the week since 2022, and the first goalkeeper to win the award since 2019.

Weekly CAA Recognition: Here are this week's CAA weekly award winners. Offensive Player of the Week: Loren Gehret, Monmouth; Defensive Player of the Week: Sierra Vance, Campbell; Rookie of the Week: Ashley Lavrich, Monmouth

Historic Victory: On Thursday, August 22, Campbell defeated NC State for the first time in program history. Goals from Kaleigh Backlund and Alyssa Tucker propelled the Camels to a 2-1 victory that moved the all-time series record to 1-15-2. Backlund's goal in the 13th minute gave Campbell their first lead over the Wolfpack since 2004, and Tucker's conversion from the penalty spot in the 60th proved to be the difference-maker. Campbell's defense held strong, withstanding a 23-6 shot advantage by State, including 13 corner kicks. The win marks the first victory over one of the state's Big 4 schools (NC State, UNC, Duke, Wake Forest).

Returning Talent: Campbell's top point scorer from last season returns in Alyssa Tucker. Kaleigh Backlund also returns after scoring four goals. Defenders Meghan Bernetti and Riley Terrill bring consistency to the back line. The two led the Camels in total minutes for the 2023 campaign.

Newcomers in the Creek: Campbell welcomes 13 newcomers for the 2024 season. The group includes three transfers and 10 incoming freshmen.

Freshman Accolades: Plenty of freshman made their marks at the high school level during their senior seasons. Ava Kanaar led the entire country during the 2023-24 winter season with 70 goals, totaling 183 over her high school career. Gillian Garrison scored 67 goals as a senior, ninth most in the country for the spring 2024 season. Abby Connolly racked up 78 goals during the spring 2024 season, second most in the country. Tyler Baughan set a school record with 43 goals in her senior season and was named all-state for her junior and senior years. Caitlyn Boucher completed a 17-0 3A state championship season in Maryland as a team captain.
