Camels earn first win at UNCG

Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - Campbell picked up its first win of the year by downing UNCG 4-3 Saturday afternoon.

UNCG began the day taking the doubles point with two close victories. Deren Ozel and Veronika Prospalova were defeated 7-5, and Ofer Kivity and Sandra Mari Marti fell 6-4. Sonia Piezyznska and Mollie Garcia's match went unfinished at 5-5.

Campbell put together a strong showing in singles, winning four of the six matches. Deren Ozel finished first with a swift 6-4, 6-1 victory. Veronika Prospalova fell 6-3, 6-2 on court five, and Ofer Kivity fell 7-6, 6-4 on court 3, leaving UNCG needing to win just one of the three remaining ongoing matches.

Sonia Piecyznska closed out a 6-2, 7-6 victory on court one as each of the last two matches went to a deciding third set. Sandra Mari Marti ultimately won 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, on court six, leaving the match to Mollie Garcia, who rolled in her third set to a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 victory to clinch the match and give Campbell the win.
