Camels set to host Towson and Drexel

BUIES CREEK – Campbell women's soccer is set to host a pair of CAA matchups this week at Eakes Athletics Complex. 

The Camels will first host Towson on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. for Mental Health Awareness night before turning its sights to Drexel on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. for Alumni Day. Both matches will not be streamed.

  • Thursday's match marks the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • Drexel comes into the match 2-5-8 overall and 1-3-2 in CAA action
  • The Dragons are 1-3-1 in its last five matches. 
  • Liv Brocious leads the squad with a pair of goals on the season. She has 17 shots on goal and ties for team lead with four points. 
  • Sammy Widnick leads the team in goal with 14 starts on the season. She has tallied 38 saves and has allowed just 16 goals.
  • Drexel is tied for the league lead with Campbell and Hofstra with three clean sheets in conference action. Sammy Widnick has logged two of her six solo shutouts in league play.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Campbell picked up a point against College of Charleston on Sunday earning a 2-2 draw at Shea Family Fields. 
  • Ella Wineka struck first for the Camels just two minutes into the match before Ava Kanaar followed in the 16thminute. Mia Fairchild and Grace Bannon picked up an assist, respectively. 
  • Charleston would go on to score just for the half, cutting into the deficit 2-1. The Cougars would find the equalizer in the second half for the final, 2-2. 
  • Anaïs van Doesburg returned to the starting lineup, making her 10th start of the season for the Camels. She notched a career high ten saves and is the first Camel to register 10+ saves since Reaghan Duval tallied 12 against Winthrop on Sept. 18, 2019. 
  • The Camels were outshot 18-8 on the night and were called offsides eight times.
