Campbell hosts New Hampshire for Homecoming

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off a road CAA win, Campbell returns to Barker-Lane Stadium on Saturday, October 18, hosting perennial conference power New Hampshire on Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The game is presented by Pepsi. Parking opens at 11:30 a.m. with stadium gates opening at 2:00 p.m.

QUICK HITS
  • Saturday's matchup is first between the Camels and Wildcats. UNH is one of three first-time opponents on Campbell's 2025 schedule, also facing Furman and NC State for the first time earlier this season.
  • Campbell is 6-10 all-time on Homecoming, winning three-straight and four of its last five, including a 21-7 win over North Carolina A&T last season.
  • Campbell is one of 31 FCS programs that will match up against at least two FBS opponents this season, and one of three CAA schools on the list, having faced East Carolina and NC State. Only UT Martin will play three FBS opponents this season.
  • Campbell begins the 18th season of its modern era of football (since 2008) in 2025.
  • Head coach Braxton Harris, the third head coach in Campbell's modern history, begins his second season at the helm in Buies Creek.
  • Three Camels played in the 2025 NFL Preseason, led by third year pro Julian Hill, who again made the Miami Dolphins' initial 53-man roster. Offensive line-men Mike Edwards (Buffalo) and Tyler McLellan (Tampa Bay) also saw time this preseason.
  • The 2025 Campbell team features 44 total returners and 56 newcomers, including 36 transfers and 20 freshmen.
  • Of Campbell's 44 total returners, the team welcomes back 11 total offensive or defensive starters, including six on offense and five on defense.

CLEAR BAG POLICY
Campbell University Athletics implements a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into Campbell Athletics facilities, including Barker-Lane Stadium. Fans are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new policies before arriving at the venue to minimize time spent searching bags at security checkpoints.

Bags that are approved include:
• Clear tote bags made of plastic, vinyl or PVC that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
• One-gallon clear plastic zip-style bags
• Small purses or clutch bags that do not exceed 6.5″ x 4.5"
• Medical or diaper bags must be accompanied by a child

Bags that are not permitted include:
• Backpacks
• Printed pattern or tinted plastic bags
• Drawstring bags
• Fanny packs
• Camera or binocular cases
• Large purses or bags

PEPSI TAILGATE TOWN IS BACK
For the third straight year, Pepsi Tailgate Town is your stop before heading inside Barker-Lane Stadium.

The football pregame experience, which debuted in 2023, is back and better than ever, featuring the same great, convenient location as last year, just outside the Barker-Lane Stadium gates.

Come hang out with other Fighting Camels before the game in the tailgate lots between Barker-Lane Stadium and Stadium View Apartments, where Campbell will host activities for the whole family, including food trucks, inflatables, yard games, music and face painting, as well as events from local businesses and organizations.

Pepsi Tailgate Town fires up three hours before kickoff for all six Campbell home dates this fall, closing just prior to kickoff.

LAST TIME OUT
Campbell rushed for 301 yards and the defense picked off two Hampton passes to dispatch the Pirates 38-21 on the road at Armstrong Stadium.

The Camels trailed 14-3 with 5:26 to go in the first half before reeling off 28-traight points, including a Lakeem Rudolph pick-six to defeat the Pirates. Holding a 31-21 lead late in the fourth, JJ Cowan tacked on his third rushing TD of the day, a 63-yard scamper to seal the win.

Rudolph's pick-six marked Campbell's first since 2021 (CJ Tillman vs. Presbyterian). During Campbell's decisive third quarter, the Camels outgained HU 114-6 that resulted in a 21-0 edge.

Cowan ended the day with a career-high 142 yards on the ground with three touchdowns on 16 attempts, helping Campbell rush for 301 yards, its most-ever against a CAA opponent (since 2023).

Ethan Lawrence rushed for 80 yards on nine carries, including a 41-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and Mike Chandler II tacked on 32 yards, while combining with Kamden Sixkiller for 125 yards passing on 10-of-18 attempts.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Camels piled up a season-high five sacks and 11 tackles for loss, while Logan Livermon totaled 10 tackles. Ashton Miller gathered 2.5 tackles for loss with 1.5 sacks and seven total tackles, and Jojo Pace recorded nine tackles, including a sack.

LEADING THE CAMELS
Kamden Sixkiller has thrown for 1,237 yards and nine touchdowns, completing nearly 60 percent of his passes. Randall King has also hauled in 28 catches for 333 yards and five touchdowns. JJ Cowan has also rushed for 353 yards, combining for six touchdowns.

Defensively, Jojo Pace owns a team-high 46 tackles, with Logan Livermon adding 41 stops. DeVonyae Pettis has also posted 5.0 tackles for loss with 3.5 sacks.

COWAN NAMED CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After a career day, leading Campbell to a road CAA win, sophomore running back JJ Cowan has been named the league's offensive player of the week.

Cowan rushed for career highs of 142 yards and three touchdowns, powering Campbell to a 38-21 win at Hampton. The Erwin native carried the ball 16 times, punching in scores of one and five yards in the second and third quarters, including the go-ahead TD, to cap CU drives, then sealed the win with a 63-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Cowan adding a 14-yard reception in the win.

With his first career 100-yard game, Cowan helped Campbell pile up 301 rushing yards against the Pirates, the most by a CU team ever against a CAA opponent (since 2023).

TOP-10 TURNOVER DEFENSE
With another pair of interceptions in last week's win at Hampton, Campbell now ranks sixth in the FCS in turnovers gained with 13 on the season. The Camels have recovered seven fumbles with six interceptions, also leading the CAA in turnovers gained.

THE MATCHUP: NEW HAMPSHIRE
UNH comes to Buies Creek following back-to-back CAA losses to No. 18 Villanova, 37-7, and at No. 17 Rhode Island, 38-27, going 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference matchups.

Matt Vezza averages 192.6 passing yards per game with seven total touchdown throws, also rushing for five TDs, while Chase Wilson has hauled in 471 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Trevor Barry also owns a team-high 50 tackles for the Wildcats.
