Campbell hosts Charlotte to open 2025 campaign Tuesday

Camels set to begin 12th season under head coach Dawn Easley

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell lacrosse opens the 2025 season on Tuesday, Feb. 11 hosting Charlotte at 6:00 PM at Barker-Lane Stadium. Attendance is free to all Campbell lacrosse regular season home games.

The game will be dedicated to Morgan's Message, an organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health for student-athletes. For more information on Morgan's Message click here.

Tuesday's game will be broadcast on FloSports. Using this specific Campbell link, any Fighting Camels fan can sign up for a FloSports subscription with a discounted rate of $12.99 a month or $99 per year. CAMPBELL NOTES

  • Campbell heads into its 13th season overall, 12th under head coach Dawn Easley and 2nd as a CAA member. The Camels were previously members of the Big South (2012-23)
  • The Camels finished last season strong, picking up the program's first CAA victory in a 14-13 overtime thriller over William & Mary
  • Campbell returns 19 letterwinners, including seven who started 10 or games from last season's squad
  • The Camels are two years removed from winning a program record 12 games. That team also reached the Big South Championship final for just the second time in program history

  • The Camels return three of its top four point scorers including leading scorer Joslin Hanbury (49 pts; 31g, 18a) along with McKenna Duncan (29 pts; 15g, 14a) and Emily Wilson (22 pts; 15g, 7a)

BISCHOFF AND WELSH ARE BACK!

  • Campbell returns fifth-year players Sam Bischoff and Rasa Welsh to its 2025 squad after losing both to injuries last season
  • A two-time Big South Midfielder of the Year, Bischoff collected 63 points on 51 goals and 12 assists in her last full season in 2024. The Pomona, N.Y. native suffered a season-ending injury in Campbell's opener against Richmond in 2024
  • Missing out on all of last season, Welsh returns after setting a program record with 90 points behind 41 goals and 49 assists in 2023


PRESEASON ALL-CAA

  • Sam Bischoff was named to the All-CAA preseason team for a second-straight season

FROM THE FIELD TO THE COACHING STAFF

  • Former program standouts Shae Fitzgerald (2020-23) and Rebekah Taylor (2020-24) are now serving as graduate assistants on the Campbell coaching staff
  • A former defender/midfielder, Fitzgerald completed her 2023 senior season by posting the second-most ground balls (48) and third-most caused turnovers (33) in single season program history
  • Taylor, a two-time Big South Defender of the Year, owns career program records for games played (76), games started (74), ground balls (165), caused turnovers (119). Taylor earned All-CAA second team honors in her final season in 2024

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

  • Charlotte is in its inaugural season as a program
  • The 49ers opened the season with a 20-2 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday
  • Senior Kylie Gioia earned AAC Attack Player of the Week honors after posting seven points behind four goals and three assists in the win over the Runnin' Bulldogs
  • Charlotte is led by Clare Short who led Queens University of Charlotte to three-straight appearances to the NCAA Div. II Final Four, including an appearance in the national championship in 2021

HEAD COACH DAWN EASLEY

  • Head coach Dawn Easley (Pfeiffer '05) enters her 12th season at the helm of Campbell Lacrosse
  • Easley owns a 83-101 record at Campbell and a 141-132 record overall after spending five seasons as head coach of her alma mater Pfeiffer from 2008-13
  • The Camels have improved its win total in three straight seasons under Easley from 2021-23, setting a program record with 12 wins in 2023
