SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Campbell Baseball fell in the series finale against UC Santa Barbara, 14-4, Sunday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

The Fighting Camels (0-3) opened the scorebook in the top of the first inning. With two outs,
Jonah Oster,
Charlie Meglio and
Ben Karpowicz hit three consecutive singles to drive in the first run of the game.

The Gauchos (3-0) immediately answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single, a sacrifice fly and a two-run home run off the bat of Jonathan Mendez, his second of the series.

Lleyton Grubich got the start and threw the first inning for the Camels.
Jackson Roberts entered the game in relief to start the second frame.

UCSB added a fifth run in the bottom of the second with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from Isaac Kim. The Gauchos added another two in the third on a wild pitch and RBI groundout.

Seth Farni led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to right center field, his first in a Campbell uniform.

Santa Barbara added another three runs in the bottom of the fourth and four in the sixth to hold a 14-2 lead through seven.

Zac Martin pitched a three-up three-down frame in the seventh, making his first appearance for CU. Freshman
Dalton Hazlett followed with a 1-2-3 inning of his own in the eighth.

Joe Simpson hit a pinch-hit home run in the ninth. Freshman
Jett Music followed with a triple to right center, and
Andrew Keller brought him home with an RBI groundout to produce the final scoreline.
