Camels finish 5th at Daniel Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. – With three golfers among the top 23 individuals, Campbell moved up to fifth place on the team leader board after Tuesday's final round of the Daniel Island Invitational.
 
Alicia Olsson (71-70-67—208) finished third in the 75-golfer field, while Mira Berglund (71-73-73—217) tied for 13th.  Isabella Hahne (74-75-70—219) placed T23.
 
Olsson notched her sixth top six finish in six starts this season and fifth top-five effort.  A sophomore from Amal, Sweden, she made 13 birdies and 36 pars and only five bogeys over 54 holes on the par-72, 6146-yard Ralston Creek course.  On Tuesday, Olsson's final round included six birdies and the only blemish was a bogey on the par-4 13th hole.
 
Berglund led the field in par-3 scoring (-4) and posted her fourth top-15 finish in six tournaments this season.  Hahne topped the field on the par-5 holes (-6) and recorded her third top-25 effort in the '24-25 campaign.  Sophomore Jade Potter (84-79-73—236) turned in her low collegiate round Tuesday and finished T63, while red-shirt junior Izabella Grimbrandt finished T71 (78-80-84—242).
 
As a team, the Camels recorded their second-best score of the season and low round of the day at 5-under-par 283.  One of five teams in the field ranked among the nation's top 50, No. 47 Campbell (294-273-283—874) turned in its fifth top five finish in six starts this season.  CU led the field in par-3 scoring (+4) and made 36 birdies (4th) in its first start of the spring campaign.
 
No. 45 NC State (280-282-285—847) won team honors at 17-under par, three shots clear of host and 48th-ranked Charleston (279-286-285—850).  Charlotte was third (865), followed by No. 37 Tennessee (867) and the Camels.  CU finished in front of Yale (878), No. 47 Virginia Tech (882), Oral Roberts (893), James Madison (893) and Georgetown (895) to round out the top 10 in the 14- team field.
 
Pimchompoo Chaisilprungruang of Charlotte (70-66-67—203) won individual honors at 13-under par, two shots clear of runner-up Marie Madsen of NC State (67-66-72—205).
 
Campbell continues its spring season Mar. 10-11 with the Briar's Creek Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C.
