BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell played their first and second games of the season on Friday at the Camel Stampede, winning against Kent State 5-4 and losing to UMass 5-2.

Game One – Campbell falls to UMass, 5-2
Â
The Minutewomen were hot offensively all throughout the game. They started out in the first inning with Lily Woodworth hitting an RBI double and bringing in Brooke Musch.​​ Sarah Reagy hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Woodworth. In the sixth inning, Woodworth hit a two RBI double, and Odyssey Torres hit an RBI double that brought in Woodworth.
Campbell's Tyra Parker hit a single to the right side and advanced on the throw, while Livie Davis scored on the throwing error to put the Camels on the board. Hannah Cornetto reached on a fielder's choice and Charlie Montgomery scored the second and final run of the game for the Camels.Â
Julianne Bolton picked up the win for UMass pitching seven innings and allowing two earned runs.Â
Hannah Leierer was credited with the loss, pitching six innings and allowing five earned runs on nine hits, striking out four. Cassiti Baroni pitched one inning and allowed no hits and no runs.Â

Game Two – Late Camel comeback against Kent State, 5-4
Kent State's Savannah Wing hit an RBI single, bringing in Aaralyn Nogay for the first run of the game. Allyiah Swiney then hit an RBI single to bring in Parker and tie the game. In the third inning Kam Utendorf reached on a fielding error and Nogay scored. Parker followed it up with an RBI single that brought in Montgomery.
In the sixth inning, Brynn Libler and Maddy Miklesh both hit an RBI single, putting the Golden Flashes ahead.
Amber DeSena scored on a wild pitch, and then Montgomery hit a two RBI double to bring the Camels out on top.Â

Cassiti Baroni picked up the win, pitching one inning, giving up no runs on two hits. Megan Gregory started the game and pitched five innings, striking out one and allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Katherine Serna pitched to two batters and allowed no hits and runs.Â
Delaney Nagy was credited with the loss.
