Campbell sweeps weekend series against NC Central

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell topped NC Central 15-3 and 11-0 in five innings on Saturday to finish up the weekend. 

The Camels improved to 12-7 for the year, and the Eagles are now 1-13. 

In the first game of the day, Amber DeSena and Tyra Parker scored the first two runs for the Camels after an error by the catcher. Livie Davis got walked with bases loaded and brought in Allyiah Swiney, who reached base on a fielder's choice. The Camels scored six runs in the second inning, with Devin Davis hitting an RBI double, Livie Davis hitting a two RBI triple and Alyssa Armijo hitting an RBI triple. Devin Davis and Hannah Cornetto both hit home runs in the fourth inning, and Dillyn Suggs hit a two RBI double.  

In the third inning, Tyler Suttles hit an RBI single, scoring Kia Borum, to give the Eagles their first run of the game. The Eagles scored two more runs in the fifth inning after an RBI double from Borum and RBI ground out from Suttles.

Emily Dameron (4-1) picked up the win after pitching three innings and allowing four hits and one earned run. 

Simone Mack (0-1) was credited with the loss after pitching 2.1 innings and allowing six hits, eight earned runs and one strikeout.

In the second game of the day, the Camels scored five runs in the first two innings after Livie Davis hit an RBI single, Armijo hit a two RBI double, Parker hit an RBI double and DeSena hit an RBI sacrifice fly. In the fourth inning Hannah Cornetto hit an RBI single, bringing in Charlie Montgomery, who reached base after she singled to center field. Devin Davis got walked with bases loaded, and then Madison Ford hit a two RBI single, scoring Swiney and Cornetto. Livie Davis hit a two RBI single to bring in Ford and Devin Davis, for the final two Camel runs.

Elana Krupey (0-4) was credited with the loss after pitching four innings and allowing 13 hits, 11 earned runs, and four walks.

Cassiti Baroni was credited with the win after pitching three innings and allowing three hits, no runs and one strikeout. 

Up Next 

The Camels will be hosting UNCW next weekend, March 7-9, for their first CAA series. It is also alumni weekend and alumni will be recognized before the game on Saturday!
