Camels finish 4th at Briar's Creek

Olsson logs 7th-straight top 10 finish this season

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Alicia Olsson logged her seventh-straight top 10 individual finish and Campbell moved up to fourth on the final team leaderboard after Tuesday's final round of the Briar's Creek Invitational at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek.

Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the tournament was shortened to 36 due to heavy rain on Monday.

Olsson tied for seventh at 2-under par (73-69—142) on the 6152-yard Rees Jones design.  One of six top 50 ranked teams in the field, No. 49 Campbell (297-288—585) finished behind only No. 6 Florida State (-9), No. 37 Purdue (+5) and No. 38 SMU (+5) in the 17-team field.  Campbell placed higher on the leader board than No. 39 NC State, No. 44 and host Charleston, plus power 4 conference members Maryland, Miami, Iowa, Minnesota and Penn State.

Olsson played her final eight holes 3-under and played par, or better, golf for the 14th time in 19 rounds this season.  She was just one of 12 golfers in the 99-player field to finish the event in red numbers.

Campbell sophomore Mira Berglund (71-77—148) and freshman Fanni Gronlund (78-70—148) tied for 32nd at 4-over par.   On Tuesday, Gronlund made the turn at 2-over, but birdied four of her final eight holes and collected her fifth round of par, or better, golf this season.  Red-shirt junior Taylah Ellems (76-74—150) tied for 42nd and Isabella Hahne finished T49 (77-75—152).

FSU's Mirabel Ting, the nation's 3rd-ranked individual, won individual honors (67-66—133) at 11-under par, five shots better than runner-up Jasmine Kahler of Purdue (70-68--138).

As a team, the Camels finished second in the field in par-3 scoring (-2) and fourth with 29 birdies.

Campbell continues its spring season Mar. 21-22 with the City of Oaks Collegiate hosted by NC State at Lonnie Poole GC in Raleigh, N.C.
