TOWSON, MD. – Savannah Safchuck and Katie Roszko combined for 12 points, leading Towson over visiting Campbell 19-9 on Saturday at Unitas Stadium in the CAA opener for both squads.
The Tigers (4-3, 1-0 CAA) connected on 19-of-32 shots, while forcing 17 Campbell (2-6, 0-1 CAA) turnovers.
Roszko piled up three first quarter goals, helping the Tigers take a 7-2 lead in the opening frame. Safchuck's three second half strikes gave Towson its largest, at 19-6 with 9:29 to go, before the Camels closed the game on a 3-0 run.
Safchuck and Roszko both tallied five goals and an assist with two ground balls to pace Towson, while Milana Zizakovic registered three goals and two assists with six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Luca DeMaio tacked on three goals, with Shannon Sullivan adding four ground balls with an assist and three draw controls. Jenna Cardeno also made seven saves with a ground ball in goal.
Rasa Welsh led Campbell with three goals, an assist and a game-high eight draw controls, while
Sam Bischoff tallied three more goals with four draw controls and three ground balls.
McKenna Duncan added a goal and two assists, while
Hailey Kohlmann posted four ground balls with three caused turnovers.
Next up, Campbell returns home on Thursday, March 20, for a noon contest against Monmouth in its CAA home opener.
