CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Campbell topped Queens in both games with scores of 2-1 and 8-6, with the second game going to nine innings.
The Camels improved to 20-7 (6-0 CAA) for the year, and the Royals are now 7-16 (2-1 ASUN).
Game One
Campbell scored first in the fourth inning after Hannah Cornetto hit her fourth career home run, scoring Madison Ford who reached base after hitting a single up the middle. Makala Strickland hit an RBI single, scoring Natalie Windham and giving the Royals their first and only run of the game.
Abby Craver (2-8) was credited with the loss after pitching 7.0 innings and allowing five hits, two earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts.
Hannah Leierer (4-2) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing five hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts.
Cassiti Baroni was credited with her second save of the season after pitching 1.0 inning and allowing no hits, no runs, and no walks.
Game Two
The Royals scored two runs in the first two innings after Taylor Jones hit an RBI single in the first inning and Emma Frye reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Lauren Byrd.
The Camels answered in the fourth inning after
Amber DeSena hit an RBI double, scoring
Megan Leon. In the fifth inning, Cornetto and DeSena both had RBIs, and then Cornetto stole home to give Campbell four runs. DeSena drew a walk in the sixth inning that brought in
Tyra Parker who reached base after hitting a single.
Cadan Brinkman hit a home run in the seventh inning that tied the game.
In the top of the ninth inning
Charlie Montgomery hit a double to center field and then later scored on a wild pitch, along with
Alyssa Armijo who also scored on the wild pitch.
Jordan Dunn (2-3) was credited with the loss after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing nine hits, three earned runs, three walks and five strikeouts.
Cassiti Baroni (5-2) was credited with the win after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing three hits, two earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts.
Megan Gregory pitched 5.0 innings and allowed five hits, four earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts.
