Campbell comes from behind again, defeats Drexel 56-52

Camels close out game on 13-3 run

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - Campbell closed out the game on a 13-3 run and came from behind in the fourth quarter to win yet again, defeating Drexel 56-52 Sunday afternoon at the Daskalakis Center. 

Winners of eight of its last nine, Campbell (18-10, 11-5) secured a double-bye with its win over Drexel (16-10, 12-4). 

The Dragons took a 49-43 lead with 8:20 to go in the fourth on a three-pointer from Cara McCormack. Campbell answered with six different players scoring as part of 12-0 run. Audrey Fuller gave the Camels their first lead since 6:16 in the second quarter on a three that rattled in.

Gianni Boone, who scored the first 12 points of the game for the Camels, added insurance with a jumper in the paint with eight seconds to go while Courtney Dahlquist put the game out of reach with a pair of free throws with three seconds left. 

Drexel finished the game shooting 1-of-12 from the field, only making a desperation three-pointer as time expired. 

Boone led the Camels with 14 points and added seven boards. Jasmine Felton Finished with seven points and nine boards while Ciara Alexander added eight points. Gemma Nunez finished with four points, five boards and a game-high nine assists. 

Drexel's Amaris Baker led all scorers with 17 points while Deja Kelly finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. 

The Camels shot 35.8 percent (19-of-53) overall, 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from three and converted 13-of-19 free throws. Drexel made 37.0 percent (20-of-54) from the floor, 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from behind the arc and made 7-of-8 free throws. 

Campbell held a slight 36-33 edge on the boards, scored 11 points off 11 turnovers and added nine second-chance points. 

Campbell returns to Gore Arena on Thursday as it hosts Charleston at 7 PM.
