Camels travel to take on No. 21 Coastal Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell is set for the final game of their five-game road swing tomorrow, as they go down to Conway, S.C. to take on No. 21 Coastal Carolina at Springs Brooks Stadium.
 
The Camels (13-14) have won seven of their last 10 games, but one of those losses was to Coastal (20-8) two weeks ago in a 5-4 game in Buies Creek.

Series History
Coastal won a 5-4 ball game two weeks ago when the teams played in Buies Creek. The Camels scored two runs in the ninth and had the tying run on third base before recording the final out. CCU has won the last three matchups and hold a 41-19 series lead since 1978.
 
Know Your Opponent
The Chants are back in the Top 25, coming in at No. 21 in the newest rankings from D1Baseball. Last Tuesday, they defeated No. 3 Clemson 8-2 on the road before winning a weekend series over Texas State.
 
Dean Mihos leads the team with a .330 batting average and 35 hits. Blake Barthol has five home runs and 22 RBI to pace the squad.
 
Starting on the mound will be freshman Luke Jones. He's made seven appearances this season totaling 15.2 innings. He has struck out 12 batters and walked 11 with a 1.53 WHIP.
 
Top of the Charts
Jake Murray is 9th in the NCAA in strikeouts per nine innings (14.60) and 20th in total strikeouts (53). He leads the CAA in both categories.
Andrew Schuldt is fourth in the CAA with 31 RBI and fifth with 24 walks.  
 
New Faces in the Creek
Campbell has new faces up and down the roster. Headlined by the coaching staff additions of Coach Marx, Coach Stone, Coach LaRue and Coach Kramer, the Camels welcome 23 newcomers on the roster.
 
Taking One for the Team
The Camels lead the CAA and are 17th in the country in hit-by-pitches, with 60. Darnell Parker Jr. accounts for 12, first in the CAA.
 
Two-Out Scoring
In their last 10 games, the Camels have scored 46 runs with two outs.
 
CAA Preseason Honors
Dalen Thompson and Andy Schuldt were named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as honorable mentions.
 
Century Club
Across the 2022 & 2023 seasons, the Camels recorded 100+ doubles, home runs, stolen bases and HBPs. They were the only team to accomplish this feat in either year. In 2024, Campbell recorded 112 home runs, 103 doubles, 98 stolen bases and 96 HBPs.
 
National Leaderboard
When Campbell's 2024 season ended, they were 8th in home runs, 12th in walks, 17th in slugging percentage, 20th in runs per game, and 23rd in OBP.
 
Replacing The Sheriff
The Camels are looking to replace the production of Lawson Harrill, who led the team in every major hitting category and set a new school record for career home runs (51).
