Camels fall in CAA second round

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Campbell fell 79-62 to Delaware Saturday afternoon in the second round of the CAA Championship.Campbell finishes the season 15-17, 10-8 in league play. 

The loss is Campbell's second straight year falling in their first game, and the second round, of the CAA Championship. 

Tasos Cook led the way with 19 points, tying his career high he last set at Delaware. Colby Duggan finished with 12 while Elijah Walsh and Cam Gregory each had 10.

The Camels fell behind early, as the Delaware defense did a good job bottling up Duggan and held him scoreless in the first 20 minutes. Tasos Cook provided the offensive spark in the first half with a team-high nine points. Campbell nearly went to the half trailing by just a possession before John Camden knocked down a three at the buzzer to put the Blue Hens up 36-30.

Campbell quickly cut the lead to two to begin the second half thanks to a couple of three-pointers from Duggan as he got going, but could never tie the score, despite making it a one-possession game numerous times in the second half. Niels Lane had a big half for the Blue Hens with 16 of his game-high 24 after halftime. The Camels trailed by only three with six minutes to go in their last chance to take hold of the game, before Delaware pulled away late for the 79-62 win. 

The Camels surrendered 14 offensive rebounds leading to 15 second-chance points. The Delawaer players had 10+ boards, with Camden and Timko both logging double-doubles. Timko had 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Camden had 15 and 12. 

Saturday marked the final game for six seniors who were honored a week ago on Senior Day: Gediminas Mokseckas, Broc Bidwell, Jasin Sinani, Caleb Zurliene, Eric Van Der Heijden, and Wesley Johnson.
