Camels top UNCW 15-2 in five innings

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell topped UNCW 15-2 in five innings in the second game of the CAA series. 

The Camels improved to 14-7 (2-0 CAA) for the year, and the Seahawks are now 14-8 (0-2 CAA). 

The Seahawks scored their two runs in the first two innings, with Maggie Pertee and Allison Corbin hitting RBI sacrifice fly balls. The Camels answered in the second inning after Charlie Montgomery hit a two RBI double, scoring Madison Ford and Livie Davis. Hannah Cornetto drew a walk, bringing around Alyssa Armijo who reached first after getting hit by the pitch. Montgomery then scored on a wild pitch. 

Allyiah Swiney kept it going for the Camels in the second inning, also hitting a two RBI double that scored Cornetto and Tyra Parker. Armijo and Montgomery both drew walks during their second at-bats of the inning, bringing Swiney and Ford home. Parker hit an RBI single that scored Davis, then Armijo scored on an error by the catcher. To end the inning, Cornetto hit an RBI single that brought in Montgomery, and Parker scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 12-2. 

The Camels scored one run in the third inning after Parker reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Ford who reached base after doubling down the left field line. In the fourth inning, Cornetto hit her third home run of the season and Cadan Brinkman hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Camels their 15th run of the game.

Taylor Barlow (3-2) was credited with the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing seven hits, eight earned runs, seven walks and three strikeouts. 

Megan Gregory (3-1) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs, and one strikeout.
