Mira Berglund is tied for 4th place individually and Campbell is four strokes off the team lead after Friday's opening round of the Coastal Athletic Association women's golf championship at The Reserve Club at St. James.
On a day when only one player in the 50-golfer field broke par, Berglund shot a two-over 74 on the 5995-yard Nicklaus design. Fellow sophomore
Alicia Olsson is tied for 10th at 3-over (75), while junior
Isabella Hahne and freshman Fannie Gronlund finished the day at 4-over (76) and are tied for 13th place. Hahne holed out for eagle on the par-4 18th with a nine iron from 124 meters to close her round.
Izabella Grimbrandt is T38 (84).
Molly Hardwick of No. 43 Charleston is on top of the individual leader board at 1-under par (71), one stroke ahead of Delaware's Anushka Sawant and Elon's Ashley Lafontaine.
Delaware and Charleston are tied on the team leaderboard at 9-over 297, two strokes clear of UNCW (299) and four in front of No. 50 Campbell (301). Elon (313) is fifth in the 10-team field.
The 54-hole stroke play event continues Saturday and concludes Sunday to determine the CAA's automatic bid in the NCAA regional championships (May 5-7). Live scoring is available at
