Camels 3rd through 36 holes of CAA Championship

4 Campbell golfers among top 11 individuals

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – With four golfers among the top 11 individuals, Campbell is third on the team leaderboard following Saturday's second round of the Coastal Athletic Association women's golf championship at The Reserve Club at St. James.
 
The 54-hole stroke play event concludes Sunday to determine the CAA's automatic bid in the NCAA regional championships (May 5-7).  The Camels will be paired with Charleston and UNCW and start from the first tee at 8:50 a.m.  Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
 
No. 50 Campbell (301-298—599) enters the final round seven strokes behind co-leaders No. 43 Charleston (297-295—592) and UNCW (299-293—592) in the team standings.  Delaware (297-305—602) is fourth and Elon (313-294—607) fifth in the 10-team field.
 
Mira Berglund (74-75—149) is tied for seventh, while Isabella Hahne (76-75—151), Fanni Gronlund (76-75—151) and Alicia Olsson (75-76—151) are tied for 11th.  No golfer in the 50-player field is in red numbers through 36 holes on the 5995-yard Nicklaus design. 
 
Sophomore Jade Potter entered the lineup Saturday as a substitute and posted the team's low score of the day, a 1-over 73. 
 
Berglund started the day 4-over through six holes, then birdied the par-5 seventh and closed her round with 11-straight pars.  She leads the field with 25 pars through 36 holes.
 
Potter was plus-3 through eight, but played her final 10 holes 2-under par.  Gronlund holed out for eagle on the par-4, 345-yard 14th with a 58-degree wedge from 58 meters.
 
Elon's Ashley Lafontaine (72-73—145) is the individual leader, one shot ahead of Charleston's Molly Hardwick (71-75—146).
 
As a team the Camels lead the field in par-4 scoring (4.24) and are second with 105 pars.

The Course – The Reserve Club at St. James (Par 72, 6013 yards)
Certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, the Reserve Club is a Nicklaus design and features rolling terrain and native vegetation while emphasizing strategy and shot making.  St. James is located near the mouth of the Cape Fear River in Brunswick County, less than a two- and one-half-hour drive from the Campbell University campus in Buies Creek.
