BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell topped Drexel in both games today, winning the first one 7-3, and the second one 8-2.
The Camels are now 33-12 (18-3 CAA) for the year, and the Dragons are now 3-37 (3-18 CAA).
Game One
The Dragons got their first lead of the series after Devyn Demchak hit an RBI double in the first inning that scored Kylah Reading, who reached base after a single to left field. Drexel scored one run each in the sixth and seventh inning, with Izzy Alamillo scoring after Reading was caught stealing, and Zoe Krizan scored on an error.
The Camels scored two runs in the second inning after Alyssa Armijo, who reached base after getting hit by the pitch, scored on an error and Madison Ford grounded out, allowing Allyiah Swiney to score. Swiney hit an RBI single in the third inning, scoring Charlie Montgomery, who reached base after hitting a single to center. Cadan Brinkman then hit a two RBI double that scored Swiney and Armijo, who singled to shortstop. Amber DeSena brought in the last two runs for the Camels after hitting a home run and bringing in Hannah Cornetto, who reached base after hitting a single to left field.
Violet Marta (2-15) was credited with the loss after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing nine hits, five earned runs, one walk and one strikeout.
Hannah Leierer (8-3) picked up the win after pitching 5.0 innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, no walks and five strikeouts.
Game Two
Drexel scored one run in the second inning after Kelsie Peters hit an RBI single. The Dragons scored another run in the fifth inning after Alamillo hit an RBI triple.
Sidney Toukonen (0-2) was credited with the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing seven hits, five earned runs, five walks and two strikeouts. Violet Marta also pitched 2.2 innings and allowed one hit and one walk.
Swiney started it off for the Camels in the second inning after she hit her first home run of the season.
Tyra Parker then hit an RBI single, scoring Brinkman who reached base on a walk. Montgomery hit a two RBI bunt in the third inning, and then Armijo hit an RBI single that brought in Montgomery. Campbell scored three runs in the fourth inning with Swiney hitting a two RBI single and then she scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
Emily Dameron (8-2) was credited with the win after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing four hits, one earned run, no walks and five strikeouts.
Megan Gregory also pitched 3.0 innings and allowed one hit, one earned run, two walks and four strikeouts.
