MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Campbell fell to Charleston 2-3 in the final game of the series.
The Camels are now 33-16 (18-6 CAA) for the year, and the Cougars are now 27-23 (17-7 CAA).
The Camels got the bases loaded in the sixth inning with Amber Desena starting it off with a walk and Charlie Montgomery and Cadan Brinkman both hitting singles. Rayanna Motas drew a walk that scored DeSena, and then Brinkman scored the second and final run on a wild pitch.
Charleston put one run on the board in the first inning after Austy Miller hit an RBI single that scored Jay Wrightsman. The Cougars scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning with Kennedy Rhue hitting an RBI sac fly and Leela Langston scored on a wild pitch.
Izzy Alley (3-0) picked up the win after pitching 2.0 innings, allowing one hit, no runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
Megan Gregory (10-5) was credited with the loss after pitching 0.2 innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs and three walks.
Emily Dameron started out in the circle for the Camels, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing two hits, one earned run, one strikeout and one walk.
Hannah Leierer then came in and pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits, four walks, three strikeouts and no runs.
Camels in the CAA Softball Championship
After this weekend, Campbell has officially clinched a spot in the CAA Softball Championship that will be held at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium next week, May 7-10. Campbell, Delaware, Elon, College of Charleston and Stony Brook all still have a chance to win the CAA regular season title.
