Box Score HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Nikki Mennella scored six goals and assisted on three more as Hofstra edged Campbell 12-11 on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Shuart Stadium.
Hofstra (7-5, 2-2) outscored Campbell (3-9, 1-4) 4-1 in the fourth quarter to come from behind and win.
The Camels scored six goals in the first quarter behind five different scorers. A constant downpour of rain came through and slowed things down in the second quarter as both sides netted just one goal each before halftime.
Campbell led 7-5 at halftime and held a four goal lead with 2:14 to go in the third quarter before the Pride scored six of the final seven goals to close out the game.
Rasa Welsh totaled six points on the day, scoring twice and assisting on four other goals while adding a team-high eight draw controls. Four other Camels also scored twice including Sam Bischoff, Lexi Goff, Delaney Nicolaus and Joslin Hanbury.
Mennella scored or assisted on five of Hofstra's seven goals in the second half. Megan Flannery added four goals while Julia West assisted on three for the Pride.
Campbell held a 30-18 edge in shots, 22-12 in shots on goal and 15-12 on draw controls.
Luchianna Cardello made 11 saves, including one on a free position attempt by the Camels with 1:49 to go.
Campbell returns to action back home on Friday as it hosts Delaware at 1 PM.
