Camels finish 10th at Lubbock Regional

12th regional appearance in last 13 seasons

LUBBOCK, TEXAS – Mira Berglund finished in a tie for 24th place Campbell was 10th on the team leader board after Tuesday's final round of the NCAA Lubbock Regional at The Rawls Course.

In Campbell's 12th regional appearance in the last 13 seasons, Berglund (80-74-69—223) logged the second-lowest round ever by a Campbell golfer in postseason play.

No. 7 Wake Forest (289-287-286—862) won the 12-team event, four strokes ahead of No. 6 Texas (290-294-282—866).  Iowa State (298-304-272—874), Tennessee (305-300-281—886) and Purdue (308-296-285—889) claimed the other three places in the NCAA Championship May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, Calif.

Lousiane Gauthier of Florida Gulf Coast finished fourth (69-76-71—216) and was low among non-qualifying teams and earned an individual spot in the national field.

Carolina Chacarra (69-71-69—209) of Wake Forest won individual honors by three strokes over runner-up Farah O'Keefe (70-72-70—212) of Texas.

Berglund opened the day with three birdies over her first four holes and was 4-under through 13.  The only blemish on her scorecard was a bogey on the 192-yard par-three 16th.  Only Anna Nordfors' 68 in the 2019 East Lansing Regional is better in Campbell postseason play than the 69 Berglund carded Tuesday.  Sharon O'Neill (2000), Michelle Koh (2012) and Tahnia Ravnjak (2014) also recorded 69s in regional play.

Alicia Olsson tied for 34th (79-74-74—227), while Isabella Hahne (77-77-75—229) and Fanni Gronlund (74-78-77—229) tied for 41st.  Jade Potter (81-77-77—235) finished 57th.

The Course – The Rawls Course (Par 72, 6701 yards): The Rawls Course opened in 2003 and is a West Texas masterpiece designed by renowned architect Tom Doak. The course was created for Texas Tech University and was designed by taking a flat cotton field on the high plains of the West Texas panhandle and creating an entire landscape from scratch. Doak moved 1.3 million cubic yards of topsoil and shaped the earth to mimic the land east and south of Lubbock where the great plain suddenly starts falling into the valleys and canyons that lead to the Caprock region.
