Konate to play for Switzerland at U20 Women’s Eurobasket

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Incoming freshman N'na Konate will suit up for her home country of Switzerland in the FIBA U20 Women's Eurobasket, Division B, beginning in the Group Phase on Saturday, August 2.

"I have enjoyed watching N'na compete in friendly games this summer and I am so proud of her for securing a spot on the Swiss U20 Women's Basketball Team," Campbell Head Coach Ronny Fisher said. "It is such a privilege for N'na to represent her country in international competition, and she will continue to strengthen her game as she competes against high-level players from all over the world."

Earlier this summer, Konate competed with Switzerland in friendly games and was given the Rising Star Award for that group of contests.

The tournament will be played at the University of Miskolc in Miskolc, Hungary. In all, 14 teams are fighting for promotion into next year's FIBA U20 Women's Eurobasket.

Switzerland's first contest is against Greece on Saturday at 2:00 PM eastern. That will be followed by a game against Malta, Sunday morning at 9:00 AM before the squad finishes group play with a matchup against Croatia at 11:30 AM Monday morning. Classification games begin on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Fisher continued, "I have seen N'na continue to gain confidence with her play this summer, and I can't wait for her to join our team in a few weeks! Her potential is simply 'off the charts', and she has a chance to be a tremendous player at Campbell University."

All games of the tournament will be available to watch live on the FIBA YouTube channel and the respective game pages on the FIBA website.
