2024 IN REVIEW
The Camels took on the 10th toughest schedule in the FCS in 2024, the first under head coach Braxton Harris, which featured a historic 24-16 win at No. 17 Western Carolina, the program's first ever win over a ranked opponent, Harris' first win as CU head coach.

Campbell tied a program record for passing touchdowns with 24 on the season, matching the 2021 squad. 2024 marked the fourth Campbell team to amass 20 or more passing TDs in a single season.
Following the season, three Camels were named to All-CAA teams, while rookie wideout Randall King was named a Phil Steele Freshman All-American.

THE MATCHUP: RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island is coming off a program-best 11-3 season that included a share of the CAA Football championship and its first FCS playoff berth since 1985. The Rams were picked to finish atop the standings in the 2025 CAA Preseason Poll.

Linebacker A.J. Pena was also chosen as the CAA Defensive Player of the Year after recording 82 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries a year ago. He ranked fourth in FCS in TFL's and second in sacks in 2024.

Rhode Island returns 11 starters from last year's team that set a program record for wins and reached the second round of the FCS playoffs. Eight of those starters are on offense, including quarterback Devin Farrell, wide receivers Marquis Buchanan and Greg Gaines III and all five regulars on the offensive line. Pena is joined by safety Andre DePina-Gray on defense.

The Rams defeated the Camels 21-9 last season at Meade Stadium in the first-ever matchup between the two programs.

GUZMAN NAMED HONORABLE MENTION PRESEASON ALL-CAA
Cornerback Brandon Guzman was named honorable mention preseason All-CAA, while Campbell was voted 10th in the league's preseason coaches' poll.

In his first season as a Camel in 2024, Guzman recorded 34 tackles with two interceptions, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in 11 games at cornerback. The CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member posted interceptions in back-to-back weeks, against Richmond and then at Delaware, also breaking up a pair of passes against Richmond, making three tackles, and forced a fumble with three tackles at William & Mary.

KING RETURNS AFTER BREAKOUT ROOKIE SEASON
Wide out Randall King returns for his sophomore season at Campbell after a breakout freshman campaign.

All six of his receiving TDs also came over the Camels' final six outings.

Taking over kick return duties for CU's final three games of the 2024 season, King returned his first attempt 90 yards for a touchdown against eventual CAA champion Richmond, totaling 147 all-purpose yards against the Spiders, earning CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

King also notched 145 yards receiving and two touchdowns at Elon, at the time the most receiving yards by a CAA freshman for the year and top-5 in the FCS.

King was the seventh Camel in the last eight seasons to earn Freshman All-America honors.
